HK0007 中環電車砵甸乍街西行站 Central Tramways Pottinger Street Westbound Stop

砵典乍街是香港島中環一條歷史悠久的街道，建於十九世紀中期，並以香港第一任總督亨利‧砵典乍爵士命名。該街部分路段鋪有不平的花崗岩石板，以適應陡峭地形及方便排水，因此被本地人稱為「石板街」。錄音是在砵甸乍街西行車站收集，可以聽到電車在接近車站並準備減速時發出的高頻聲音。當道路繁忙且停滿大型車輛時，電車產生的聲音會被掩蓋，只有在近距離才能聽到。

Pottinger Street is a historic street in Central, Hong Kong Island, built in the mid-19th century and named after Hong Kong’s first Governor, Sir Henry Pottinger. Sections of the street are paved with uneven granite slabs to adapt to the steep terrain and facilitate drainage, earning it the local nickname “Stone Slabs Street.” The recording was made at the westbound tram stop on Pottinger Street. The high-pitched sounds of trams approaching and slowing down at the stop can be heard. When the street is busy and filled with large vehicles, the tram sounds are sometimes masked and can only be heard clearly at close range.
